Annapurna Helicopter Sightseeing

He went above and beyond to answer our unrelenting questions about his country, culture and to ensure we had a great time. Including, helping me to set up a proposal for my now fiance at Hotel Everest View, Thank you Arjun. This trek took us through some breathtaking scenery and gave us lifelong memories to hold on to. We could not recommend Nepal Hiking Team any higher.
We will be back for another trek.

  We had the BEST time with NHT! Originally, we were in Nepal in March 2020 to do this trek but decided to fly home instead of continuing with the trek... read more due to the pandemic. When we met with NHT to tell them our decision to go home, they were more than gracious - they let us know our deposit would never expire and even offered to let us use a trekking bag to bring home all the stuff we had purchased there for the trek! Flash forward to almost two years later and we finally got to go back to Nepal to do the EBC trek (December 2021). Ganga and his team were wonderful communicating with us via e-mail before we left. Any questions or concerns we had were responded to quickly. Once we arrived in Nepal, we were completely cared for the entire time!

Our guide, Paban, made our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience (I still don't think I would have made it to basecamp without him). He was kind, patient, knowledgeable, encouraging, and funny. There are some really long stretches of uphill climbs on the trail. At any point on the trail, I could ask him, "how much further to____?" and he would know exactly how much longer we had to go. Also, every morning he briefed us on the day's trail, how much water to bring, etc. It was great knowing what to expect each day. He was also incredibly encouraging - he really believed we could make it and said so. This encouraged us to keep going even when we were tired or discouraged. Paban was also great at knowing when to walk with us (and make small talk, tell us facts, etc.) and when to give us space by ourselves. As an introvert, it was nice not having someone wanting to chat the entire time. Nothing was ever a burden for him either. He went above and beyond to make sure we were also comfortable and happy (getting us the best rooms, making sure the showers were hot enough, carrying my backpack, etc.). When you are in a place that is rugged, you don't know the language, your body is doing weird things in response to the altitude, you are tired, etc. - you'll want a guide from NHT. As we were coming back down from base camp, we ran into a group from NHT going up. They had the same level of attentiveness and service from their guide too.

Also, when we were delayed a day on the mountain returning to Kathmandu due to cloud cover, Paban and Ganga did everything they could to get us down. When it became apparent in late afternoon the clouds weren't going to allow any planes or helicopters into Lukla, NHT made sure we got seats on the first plane out the next day. This was extremely important to us as we had flights home later that same day. Without them and their connections, I'm sure we wouldn't have been on the first plane out. They also were able to put a rush on our COVID PCR tests once we got back to Kathmandu so we had the necessary documentation to go home and wouldn't have to change our flights.

  Incredible adventure on the Manaslu Circuit - We completed the 15 day Manaslu Circuit trek with Nepal Hiking Team in late November 2022.

The scenery of the Manaslu region is stunning and far more beautiful than... read more we had imagined. The weather was excellent! It did get cold but we had blue sky every day and no rain. There were three of us in our group and we only bumped into a few people along the trail. It was incredibly serene and this was a big reason we chose the Manaslu Circuit over Annapurna. We started our trek with a long drive to Machha Khola (which avoided some road sections if we had started in Soti Khola) and finished in Dharapani. In total, we did ten days of actual trekking which was really enjoyable.

Our guide was Ram and porters Namaraj, Sabin and Samir. They were all very professional, capable and polite. They made sure we had a good experience. It’s not the sort of trek where you are provided with lots of information about Nepal along the way, but Ram was always happy to answer questions and share information when we asked. Prior to departing on the trek Ganga had organised a day tour around Kathmandu where we learned about Nepalese culture and it’s well worth doing.

We were impressed by the communication and organisation of NHT during the booking process and our actual trip. Ganga was extremely helpful in answering all our questions and also assisted us to tailor our itinerary as we wanted to travel to Bandipur and Chitwan after the trek. We were collected from the airport we met Ganga and our guide the day before the trek which was nice. He even organised our transport back to Kathmandu airport a good two weeks after we finished the trek which we hadn’t expected but really appreciated.

We were happy with the accomodation before the trek (Woodapple Hotel) and we chose to stay there where we returned to Kathmandu. On the trek you stay in tea houses. The quality of tea houses on the trek varied but for the most part were very nice. We enjoyed most of the food, it’s best to eat the vegetarian Nepalese/ local options rather than western choices - they are delicious, especially the Dahl baht and momos. Our favourite tea houses were in Namrung, Lho and Samdo (the hot shower at Samdo for 500 baht was money well spent) and our least favourite were Samagaun (a shame as you spend two nights there) and Dharamasla. You won’t get much cell/wifi coverage (which is quite nice) but you can buy a warmish shower at most tea houses for between 250 and 500 rupee. We brought our own warm sleeping bags and pillows which we appreciated as the cleanliness of extra blankets and pillows in tea houses was often lacking (Nepal Hiking Team can also supply a sleeping bag and down jacket but we chose to bring our own).

Overall we loved our experience. We would be happy to book with Nepal Hiking Team again and 100% recommend the Manaslu Circuit as an incredible adventure.

Tips: I’d suggest bringing your own food (eg that you can add hot water to) for the tea house at Dharamasla as it was extremely basic and you don’t want to risk food poisoning the night before the Pass. Biodegradable wet wipes, toilet paper, a life straw, water sanitation tablets and plenty of hand sanitiser are also suggested! Drink lots of water to help with acclimatisation.

He arranged a custom ABC trip adding... read more a day-long tour of Kathmandu, a free day in Pokara, and a flight back to Kathmandu. Once in Nepal, he met us at our hotel several times before and after our trek to ensure everything was going smoothly. We can’t say enough about our guide, Hadi, and porters, Navaraj and Ganesh. They became our trail family and kept us safe, comfortable, and educated on the culture and geography of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Hadi brilliantly paced us through days of climbing, arranged the best rooms in every tea house, and kept us laughing the entire trek. He was always attentive to our comfort and safety and was especially caring to our daughter when she was sick with a cold. When we reached ABC the views were blocked by clouds, but the next morning Hadi got up at 5:00 am to wait for the views to clear and woke us up as soon as the clouds lifted! And a highlight of the trek was nightly card games with our team. Nepal Hiking Team and their professional, caring staff are top notch. I highly recommend them and will use them again when we return to Nepal. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime!

Our experience with... read more the Nepal Hiking Group was A+. From Ganga the owner of Nepal Hiking Group to their porter Chandru did an outstanding job in planning everything perfectly. From airport pick-up on the first day to the departure from Kathmandu on the last day was done on time.

Our trekking guide Arun, his assistant Deepak, and porters Dhan and Chandru made sure that our team of 4 not only succeeded reaching the base camp but also accommodated all our unending requests enthusiastically never once losing their patience. The help extended by them on the trail and at the tea houses is greatly appreciated. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. One example is that the porters Chandru and Dhan always returned to the trail after dropping their bags in the tea houses and then carried our bags if needed and gave us a helping hand in climbing steep hills etc.

Our guide Arun was very knowledgeable and a patient gentleman. Some other guides we met on the trail told us that he is one of the top 10 guides in Nepal. They definitely were not exaggerating, Nepal Hiking Group made arrangement for us to stay at the Woodapple Hotel in Thamel area of Kathamandu and we were extremely happy with the upgraded rooms provided and the food at the hotel. Amazing from start to finish.that aside it’s not easy, but you are constantly helped along by Basu and his team from Nepal Hiking who I can not... read more recommend enough, the staff here are absolutely amazing and selfless in their actions and give everything to ensure we were made as comfortable as possible. We see lots of teams going up and down, and don’t think any seemed as chilled and happy as ours were.
