Ganga the leader of Nepal Hiking Team worked with us patiently over the years to plan the trip and customize it the the needs and schedules of our party. The trip was arranged by Ganga end-to-end with transportation to and from the hotel and Kathmandu and Pokhara airports, a few days stay in Kathmandu on either end, equipment, and the guides, porters and trek to ABC. The hotel in Kathmandu was modest, clean and central to the nice spots and restaurants in Kathmandu. Ganga organized a fascinating day trip to visit the sites in Kathmandu with a very knowledgable guide. I had a private audience with the Royal Kumari (Princess) of Kathmandu. Don't miss Pashupatinath Temple - one of the holiest Shiva temples.

Our guide for ABC was Hari Saran, the head porter was Rabin Bhandari, and junior porter was Krishna. Foremost they were great company, and very responsible and caring of all the members of our group - the tortoises, the rabbits, the ones with food preferences, ones who needed help carrying their bags at times, etc. We had two birthdays during the trek and had wonderful surprises and treats for the celebration.

Hari was an incredible guide and next time we come to Nepal we definitely want him back. Hari was very knowledgable about the area, the flora and fauna, and during the trek gave us an introduction to the history, people and politics of Nepal. He made the trek safe, smooth and highly enjoyable for us all organizing the lodges, food, showers and WiFi along the way.

Rabin was a lovely human being, concerned for all of us and our needs and safety and foremost we are grateful that he carried a huge load for us. Rabin spoke perfect English and was a great complement to Hari. Our young porter Krishna was always smiling, and training to become a guide.

Nepal that was the hippy destination in the 60s and 70s is now a destination for hikers and NGOs. A lot of young adults simply show up in Nepal for a few months and are often hiking without a guide or porter. We met a lot of wonderful people along the trek and had great conversation with them in the lodges - Nepalese, Europeans (lots of French!), Indians and surprisingly Malaysians.

The lodges along the ABC route are very simple and cold - no insulation or heating. Bathrooms can be dirty (no western style toilets in many lodges) and very few hot showers. But it sure beats sleeping in tents.

Some tips: take Diamox and don't be the one that has altitude sickness and has to be brought down. Be careful with what you drink (no fresh juices) and eat - it will be no fun getting dysentery. And choose a good hiking company - we chose Ganga's Nepal Hiking Team and it was an amazing trip!

The sightseeing part was a neat discovery and the tour guide was always very knowledgeable explaining elements of the country's history and society.

But the main part was the trekking. My guide Ganesh and the porter Rabin proved to be so supportive and attentive I could only focus on the trekking leaving all the rest to their care.

I'm really grateful to the whole team for the unforgettable memories I got during the trip to this amazing country.

Narayan has been a guide for fifteen... read more years and knew everyone that we encountered along our trek, which was nice when we visited each village.

We are a couple in our late 20s that signed up for the Annapurna Base Camp (trek) after receiving our second jab. During our trek, we were stunned by the beautiful scenery and kind people. Due to Covid and the lack of tourists, were the only trekkers in many of our guest houses but our hosts went above-and-beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We’ll forever remember Nepal (esp Poon Hill) as the spot where we became engaged.

We were very grateful for the coordination of the Nepal Hiking Team staff when Nepal announced a ban on international flights as we finished our trek. The team was kind, patient, and organized to safely get us through various checkpoints back into Kathmandu and arranging drivers/guides to take us to the local hospital for PCR tests before we took one of the last flights out.

Overall, we had an incredible time with the team and look forward to signing up for more treks in the future! If you decide to sign up for ABC - we recommend becoming very friendly with your stairmaster to best prepare for the trek!

I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to... read more book it otherwise with all the confusion due to COVID restrictions. Delighted I did as it turned out to be the trip of a lifetime. We got it all really; the madness of the city, the paradise of the mountains, the exciting flight to Lukla, hot sun, deep snow, breathtaking views, Sherpa culture, Yaks, homebrew, monks, monasteries, peaks & pubs....hard to beat! Guide & porter were great. Ram our guide seemed to know everyone along the way and was a good laugh to be with. We watched Hari out porter carrying half his bodyweight out of the tea-house every morning but he kept smiling which helped with the guilty feeling! There is some hardship involved with the altitude & facilities available but that's all part of the experience. Have to also mention that the aftercare we received from Glorious was great...we weren't really expecting any. They organized everything we needed afterwards including COVID tests and in a place like Kathmandu any help you can get is worth taking! All in all...brilliant!
